| About the Foundation
In 1973, the Nebraska legislature passed a law that organized all of the two-year colleges in Nebraska into six (6) community college areas: Southeast, Northeast, Metropolitan, Central, Mid-Plains and Western. At that time, McCook Junior College became McCook Community College and a part of the Mid-Plains Community College Area. This legislative action prompted a local group of MCC alumni, and community educators and leaders to establish the McCook College Foundation, a non-profit organization incorporated in 1974, and founded solely to collect monies to support the students, facilities, programs, and activities of MCC. The McCook College Foundation is a business corporation run by a volunteer Board of Directors, independent and autonomous from any type of governance by the Mid-Plains Board of Governors and/or MPCC/MCC administration. The Foundation works in partnership with the MPCC/MCC administration, staff, and faculty to achieve specific academic strategies and goals, enhance campus facilities, provide student financial aid, and financially support the college experiences of individual students.
