A Message from the McCook College Foundation...
McCook Community College Celebrates 80 Years
of Excellence, Success, Pride, and Generosity
1926 - 2006

It Is a Matter of Fact... that McCook Community College, Nebraska’s first junior college founded in 1926, has an 80-year history that demonstrates steadfast commitment and performance in providing a quality and affordable education. While MCC has always emphasized a general liberal arts education, changing times have created the need to be flexible and quick in responding to emerging technology, economic demands in our communities, and evolutions in the field of education and life long learning. MCC has been, and will continue to be, a valuable resource for the area’s future economic development by providing a well-educated and well-trained workforce for business and industry throughout our state, nation, and world community.

It Is A Matter of the Pride... we all share in MCC’s growth from classrooms in the local YMCA, to a current campus of nine buildings, including: a renovated and expanded McMillen Hall; von Riesen Library; Barnett Hall, Walsh-Brady Hall; Tipton Hall; Wrightstone Fine Arts; Student Center; Brooks Residence Hall; and True Hall/Gymnasium
...Pride in the establishment of the Hormel Business and Technology Center offering state-of-the-art training to business and industry in our area; the campus presence of 21st Century Systems Inc. which develops important software for the U.S. Military; and the Esther Trantow Dobbie Advanced Studies Center which provides MCC students and citizens in Southwest Nebraska in-classroom and on-line access to bachelor and graduate degree programs
...Pride in the 2006 renovation and expansion of the Weeth Theatre in Tipton Hall; addition in 2005 of a Graphic Design curriculum; a college choir invited to perform at New York City’s Carnegie Hall; restoration of the historical and beautiful campus chimes in 2005; placement in 2004 of a grand 15-foot outdoor campus clock; an ever expanding memorial brick area on the north side of McMillen Hall; a new MCC Memorabilia Area located in the lower level of von Riesen Library dedicated in the fall of 2006; and a Donor Recognition “Tree of Life” and “Wall of Honor” dedicated in the lobby of McMillen Hall in 2006 to honor those individuals who have contributed to the promotion and enhancement of educational opportunities at MCC over the college’s 80-year history
...Pride in state of the art distance learning and on-line capabilities
...Pride in the expansion of campus athletic programs to include men’s basketball and baseball, women’s softball and volleyball, and golf, and the consistent national ranking and recognitions of academic achievement for student athletes representing MCC’s teams
...Pride in the vision to expand MCC’s campus facilities in the near future to include the construction of a 60,000 + square-foot activity center, and possible transformation of True Hall into a Performing Arts Center
...Pride in the ability of our Foundation to establish over 60 renewable Board Designated Scholarships and Grants, and the creation of annual scholarships by over 40 donors which all together can provide over $189,000 in scholarship and grant support each academic year.

It Is A Matter of Choice... that we all make the important decision to support the students and future of McCook Community College. Providing Opportunity . . .Unlocking Potential . . .Investing in the Future . . . these are the cornerstones of purpose in our Foundation’s mission to enhance educational opportunities at McCook Community College. Accomplishing our mission is possible because of the many loyal individuals and organizations who make the commitment to financially contribute to the success of the individual student and to MCC. As we focus on the future, we invite you to participate with us to insure that students continue to receive the lifelong learning opportunities at MCC that will be the keys to unlocking their potential, to opening doors to future success and personal fulfillment, and to fostering their contributions to the vitality of our communities and our nation. On behalf of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the MPCC/MCC administration, and the students we all serve, I extend our sincere appreciation for your commitment to MCC and your financial support.

Dear Friends of the College,
For over 30 years, the McCook College Foundation has contributed financial resources for the overall betterment of McCook Community College and its students. McCook Community College is fortunate to be the recipient of generous gifts from benefactors who care about the welfare of college students and of a community college in Southwest Nebraska. Many colleges only have the dream for such a relationship to a foundation. As a college, we cherish that relationship and are grateful for the numerous contributions the McCook College Foundation continues to make to students, programs and facilities at McCook Community College. If you are contemplating about where to give, please consider being a benefactor to the McCook College Foundation. You can give with confidence that your gift will directly impact a student’s life and support the future of McCook Community College.

McCook Community College is a special place. It has led the way in higher education in southwest Nebraska for the last 80 years. Throughout its history, the College has maintained its positive impact on the economic health of the city and the surrounding communities by offering quality and affordable education with excellent articulation agreements with Nebraska four-year colleges and universities and by meeting the training needs of business and industry. All of us who work for the College are dedicated to upholding the rich, honored tradition of MCC and are grateful to be part of a growing family whose roots reach deep into the wellsprings of rural America. The College’s current and past successes are reflected the wonderful accomplishments of its alumni who began their careers right here in the hallowed halls of McMillen. McCook Community College remains strong because of the people like you who are so willing to give back to the College that served them so well, and it will continue to lead the way because of the opportunities you provide through your financial commitment. Thank you for being there for us.
